CELEBRATION/SV WWII Northeast Regional Convention
Return to your Submarine Roots!
Come back and celebrate the USSVI 46th Anniversary Weekend where it all started. The USSVI Groton Base, “First and Finest” is proud to host the ninth annual Anniversary Weekend.
This years Anniversary Celebration is combined with the SV WWII Northeast Regional Convention.
It will be held in the “Submarine Capital of the World”, Groton CT from 27 Apr - 01 May, 2010..
This event is a great opportunity to for all submariners to come back to where we all got started, to see the advances we have made in submarine technology, and to perpetuate the memories of all submariners.
Schedule of Events:
Scholarship Golf Tournament is scheduled rain or shine. Price includes greens fees, cart, and lunch.
Luncheon There will be a luncheon for all interested attendees and guests. Lunch will be at the Groton Townhouse Restauraunt.
Return to Submarine School includes a Basic Submarine School Graduation Ceremony, Sub School tours, and lunch at the Sub Base GalleyThe Sub School Tour is limited to 150 participants. Register by 22 April, 2010!
Welcome Aboard Party There will be a Welcome Aboard party for all SV WWII/ SUBVETS and their guests.
Submarine Tour is strictly dependent on Sub Base security conditions and Submarine availability; it can be cancelled without notice. The number permitted to tour a boat has not been determined at this time, therefore participation will be first come/first served based on date of receipt of the registration forms prior to 22 April, 2010. Those wishing to tour a boat must be physically able to climb up and down two decks on vertical ladders.
Shopping Tour There will be a Shopping trip to Mystic Seaport at the same time as the Submarine Tour for wives and those not interested in the Boat Tour. Maximum of 50 people.
Anniversary Banquet Dinner Dance will be held at the Port and Starboard Banquet Facility in New London and will begin with a social period and cash bar, then dinner with a choice of entrees, our guest speaker is FORCM(SS) Jeff Garrison, several raffle prizes, and then dancing and live music provided by The POM.
